Tasting Notes: If you’ve never had Winemaker’s Blend, get ready to experience a bold. Aromas of cedar and plum encased in mulberry and cedar will the nose while the palate is flooded in flavors of cherry, crème de cassis and chocolate covered espresso bean. Balanced tannins and acidity give way to a long, dry finish. Drink now or cellar for 7-8 years.
Vineyard Notes: This wine is an artful blend of Bordeaux varieties and represents the beautiful dark fruit that grows in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. Taking the best characteristics from each varietal, the 2011 blend has the backbone and weight of a Cabernet, balanced by the round smoothness of Merlot. Select vineyard blocks from five of our favorite Sonoma Valley sites were chosen barrel by barrel for this special blend.
Winemaker Notes: Made with the most traditional hands-on methods, the grapes were hand sorted in the vineyard, fermented in small tanks and serviced by hand with love and care. Native yeast and malolactic bacteria were employed throughout. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak (50% French, 50% American), 35% new.
Food Pairing: Pair this wine with a hearty beef stew or Swiss steak.

Other Notes:

2011 was a very cool growing season, with late precipitation in June. Around mid-summer heavy rains came and allowed vines to increase vigor -creating lush full canopies. Long hang times allowed the fruit to develop evenly and created complex flavors and aromas.
