| Tasting Notes: | Terra Neuma has a soft, round entry which carries through the palate giving the wine a polished mouthfeel. This Pinot is chock full of lush, red fruit essences that are entwined in fresh, spicy tobacco and chalky mineral nuances. You will be impressed by the difference a thirty minute decanting will add to its long, sweet finish. We used 25% whole clusters to add structure and life to the mid-palate. The alcohol is kept low to allow for enduring flavor. |
| Vineyard Notes: | Our de Coelo estate vineyard is perched on a rugged hilltop five miles from the Pacific Ocean, where rocky, shallow soils and the cooling fog off Bodega Bay create ideal conditions for exceptional Pinot Noir. Because of the very cool temperatures in this part of the Sonoma Coast, the 25-acre, certified-Biodynamic de Coelo is truly on the edge of where Pinot Noir will grow. With no margin for error on this site, our vineyard team works overtime to ensure we capitalize on each ray of sun. Every cluster is positioned for direct exposure to elements. Cane pruning adds a third, horizontal dimension to the ripening. Throughout the growing season clusters that aren’t ripening evenly are thinned so that only the highest quality grapes are harvested. Believers in personal observation and deep connection to the land, we figure that each vine has been tended by hand no less than fourteen times before the grapes are ready for harvest. |

De Coelo is divided into two distinctive blocks: Quintus and Terra Neuma. Terra Neuma is planted higher on the hillside where the topsoil is subject to more erosion. Fruit ripens earlier here compared to Quintus and tends to yield a wine with low alcohol and ripe, red fruit characteristics.
