The warm 1996 growing season allowed the grapes to ripen fully. Combined with a low crop this led to a wine with increased concentration but also a suppleness of texture characteristic of Alexander Valley Cabernets.
Vinification
We use various blocks within the vineyard to create a more complex and concentrated wine. Each block was fermented in open top fermentors and then placed in French and American oak for 18 months. Then this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was bottled in April of 1998.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of rich cherry, plum and vanilla with hints of cedar and spice. Full-bodied with good concentration of black cherry and plum with notes of oak and spice. Pair this with big pasta sauces or your favorite meat dishes.
