VINEYARD | This Lake County vineyard is organically farmed. The Muscat grown here is an Italian clone and the vines are 8 years old. Canopy and water management techniques emphasize the floral and citrus characteristics in the grapes.

VINTAGE | A dry winter led to a fairly early bud break in 2007. Overall the growing season was evenly paced with a just a few heat spikes in the early summer. Warm August weather started harvest early, especially for early ripening varietals like Sauvignon Blanc. This vintage was certainly smaller in quantity than 2006, but in many cases the lower yields meant more concentrated flavors.

WINEMAKING | We whole cluster press the grapes and cold-ferment them in stainless steel tanks. Keeping temperatures low slows the fermentation process and preserves the fruit flavors and aromas in the wine. We look to have just enough residual sugar to emphasize and balance the crisp acidity.
