The wine has a very rich, concentrated entry. Because of the warmth late in the growing season there is a juiciness that explodes with flavor. Very developed mid-palate with soft tannins give the wine a sort of oval shape in the mouth. The finish is packed with flavors of berry and nutmeg. Good acidity stretches out the finish giving this wine a beautiful horizontal character that is texturally fascinating.

The 2006 vintage is made up of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot. Rich aromas of dark chocolate and cigar give way to layered flavors of currant, plum and coffee. The wine has a firm mid-palate and round, soft tannins. Like the structure of a deep bass with the timelessness of a good melody.

In the nose, our 2006 Winemaker’s Claret has clean herbal aromas followed by cassis, mulberry, vanilla, and cedar. A dry wine with medium body, in the glass there are flavors of cherry, crème de cassis, black licorice, and chocolate covered espresso bean. Balanced tannins and acidity give way to a long, dry finish. Pair this wine with a Benziger favorite – beef tenderloin in a tart berry reduction.

Our 2006 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon has flavors of wild cherry, raspberry, dark chocolate and cedar. In the mouth, the wine has weight and long, soft tannins.
