Excellent in the glass or alongside a meal, there are flavors of toasted oak, spicey pepper and anise balanced against dark fruit like current and ripe plum.

In smell, it is fine and appealing, with notes of dark chocolate, boysenberry, cassis, herb, and leather; while on the palate, it is supple and long, with a very persistent aftertaste, and overtones of blackberry, plum, and pepper. Enjoy this wine with barbecued lamb, mushroom risotto, pasta with meat sauce, or lamb stew.

  • Our 2004 Winemaker’s Claret is a full bodied, balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Taking the best characteristics from each varietal, the 04 Claret has both the round smoothness of Merlot with the backbone and weight of a Cabernet. Rich fruit flavors of plum and blackberry give way to coffee and a hint of toast from the oak aging. Pair this complex wine with classic New York strip steak or roasted vegetables over polenta.

  • This is a drinkable wine, in the best sense of that term. It is full-bodied, round and well balanced, but without heaviness or strong tannins. It has flavors of ripe plum, herbs, and spicy oak, and is a blend that combines depth of flavor with oak complexity. The elegant fruit flavors and silky mouthfeel of Merlot combine with the rich texture and sturdy tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon. It should continue to improve with further aging,
    for another three to five years. Perfect with robust, meaty dishes, roast rack
    of lamb with a red wine sauce, or cheese steak.
